You can have your greens and drink them too. Here I’ll be listing some of my favorite cocktail recipes as I publish them under the rubric “Drink Your Greens.”
Cheers!
Green Lantern — or CILANTRO JALAPENO MARGARITA — based on this recipe to which we added jalapeno…
For 2 drinks: muddle lots of cilantro leaves (1/2 cup) with sugar (4Tbs) & 2 slices of jalapeno (slice size depends on how spicy you wanted. I recommend starting with thin); shake with lots of ice, lime juice (2 limes), triple sec (1 oz) and tequila (4 oz, preferably silver, but gold works too).
THE WALDINGER
Muddle 2 lime wedges with 1 splash lime juice; Add 1 oz lemon balm syrup & 1.5 Bullet bourbon; Shake hard with a lot of ice; Serve in rocks glass with a lime wedge.
Lemon balm syrup: Bring 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a quick boil; Add 1 cup packed fresh lemon balm leaves; Reduce heat to low, simmer 1-2 minutes, let it cool and steep for an hour or two; Strain. Keep refrigerated.
This cocktail was created by Trestle on Tenth, and served at James’ birthday party under this name. So, we kept it in the fam. Related post.
